Ann Hodges has over 3 decades’ experience directing theatre, opera, and musical theatre across Canada. She has worked in every province (except 1!) and recently made her international debut directing L'Elisir d'Amore at Weiwuying, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

In addition to directing, Ann is a sought-after dramaturg for new plays, musicals and operas, working on projects for Musical Stage Company, The Blyth Festival, the Canadian Musical Theatre Project, Charlottetown Festival, Manitoba Theatre for Young People and others. As a writer, Ann has written a number of original opera libretti and adaptations, including the critically-acclaimed opera Naomi’s Road.

Ann is a frequent guest instructor or director at universities, colleges, opera companies and emerging artist programs. She has served on numerous boards and arts juries, and is often called upon as a consultant, advisor or mentor.

A graduate of the Directing Program at the National Theatre School of Canada, Ann proudly makes her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
